Bulk Roses are shipped directly from our farms to your doorstep. Before shipping your flowers, we prepare them for their journey with proper hydration methods. If your flowers appear sleepy and thirsty after their journey, it is absolutely NORMAL. Just follow these simple steps to ensure your flowers have the proper care.

Tip: Wear protective gloves while handling your roses. Thorns may be present and tinted roses can stain hands and clothing.

  1. When your boxes arrive, it is important to get your flowers in water as quickly as possible.
  2.  Remove roses from box by cutting any straps. Do not remove the cardboard sleeve that is holding the roses together in a bunch. It is recommended to leave the cardboard sleeve on for 4 to 8 hours while the roses hydrate and then remove once well hydrated. Remove all plastic packaging and rubber bands.
  3. Inspect your flowers.*
  4. Gather clean buckets, vases, or containers for your flowers. Ensure your buckets, vases containers are very clean. We recommend rinsing them with warm water.
  5. Fill the buckets or containers with at least 4 inches of fresh, cool water. If flower food is available, follow the package directions for adding it to the water.
  6. Remove any foliage from the flowers that falls below the waterline of your containers. When removing foliage, care should be taken to not damage the stem. Removing any foliage that falls below the waterline will help prevent the  growth of mold or bacteria which could cause premature wilting.
  7. Cut stems diagonally under running water using clean, sharp flower shears or scissors. Cut approximately 1 inch from the bottom of the stem. Immediately after cutting, place the stems in the prepared water.
  8. Ensure that you have sufficient room in each container for the amount of stems you will be storing. Overcrowding may cause damage to flowers and effect proper blooming.
  9. Allow the roses at least 4 hours to hydrate well. It can take up to 8 to 12 hours to properly hydrate. If you see that some flowers are still drooping after 3-4 hours, it it  possible an air bubble has formed in the stem.  Re-cut following the above directions.
  10. Keep flowers in a cool, dark location away from direct sunlight, drafts, or extreme temperatures and heat.
  11. To keep your flowers fresh, change the water every 24 to 48 hours or when the water becomes cloudy. The water will change color if the roses are tinted.. Simply change water as directed. Ensure that your flowers have sufficient water at all times. They will drink an exceptionally large amount of water upon arrival.
  12. We ship our roses with guard petals intact in order to protect the rose during shipping. Upon removal of the protective cardboard packaging, carefully pluck off any brown or discolored guard petals. It is not uncommon to remove an average of 5-10 petals per rose.

Remember that exposing flowers  to warm temperatures will help the flower to bloom, and storing your flowers in a cooler environment will slow down the blooming process.

*Note: Our roses are packed 25 stems per bunch. Looking at the bunch from above it will appear as if there are only 12 roses. Our roses are packed in layers to ensure protection during shipping. Below the first layer is a second layer which hold the other 13 rose stems. If you are unsure, count the STEMS instead of the rose heads and you will see there are 25 per bunch.

*If upon first inspection, you foresee a problem with your flowers, do not proceed processing your order. Leave the flowers intact in the box and call us immediately at 1-877-50 ROSES (507-6737

Two Brides on Cape Cod

Columbus Day weekend on the Cape. Two brides, and a whole lotta love and fun! We wanted to use purple kale as the main eye catcher, but ended up having to substitute succulents. (Many thanks to Katie at FiftyFlowers for quick crisis management and logistics for day before shipment.) Sadly, the purple kale wasn't coming in as purple. Either way, all turned out beautifully! And, as often happens, I think the substitute choice ended up better than our original choice! The colors were fabulous, and I am still enjoying the succulents, 6 weeks later (they started to root, so I planted them). We had plenty of flowers, and used leftovers to decorate hors d'oevre trays, sign in tables, etc. Would highly recommend this route. Not only was it fun to do (we had a group of 8 of us!), it was a great way to relax and enjoy the day before the wedding!

An All American Love Story

My whole life I've loved all things DIY, I knew when Taylor proposed I wanted to incorporate three things into our wedding: Personal handcrafted touches, his patriotism, and our last name Ford. Our Americana-themed wedding was held in Florence, AZ at the Windmill Winery with the most stunning barn as our reception venue and the backdrop for our ceremony. Our colors navy, coral, and champagne were a play off of red white and blue, and the rustic red barn gave us that Americana feel we were going for! During our 13 month engagement I taught myself to make paper flowers out of tissue & crepe paper. With the help of family and friends I crafted over 1,100 handmade paper flowers which made up our centerpieces, and were sprinkled into our bouquets. When dreaming up my bridal bouquet and bouquets for my bridesmaids, I knew I wanted to incorporate a mix of both fresh and paper flowers. I chose to use peach and coral paper peonies and roses mixed with fresh white roses, carnations, dusty miller, and silver dollar eucalyptus. The perfect spring combo with a romantic feel. The morning of our wedding my army of bridesmaids (I say army because I had 12 amazing women I couldn't imagine this day without!) sat in our robes and assembled 12 bridesmaids bouquets, 14 boutonnieres, 1 stunning bridal bouquet, and a 20 foot eucalyptus garland sprinkled with crepe paper peonies. While we were rotating getting our hair and makeup done, this made for the perfect pass time and really allowed my bridesmaids (10 of whom live out of state) feel like they had a part in helping with the big day. When hunting for a ceremony arch I couldn't find anything that spoke to me, so I asked my husband and his friend to buy some railroad ties and make my vision come to life! My besties worked hard to assemble the breathtaking eucalyptus garland that made for the perfect setting for our ceremony backdrop! Guests at our wedding were blown away by how beautiful our flowers were and couldn't believe that we had created the bouquets ourselves the morning of our wedding! It was an absolute blast and having something to keep me busy helped calm my wedding jitters and was a wonderful way to bond with my girls! We had an overwhelming amount of people tell us how personalized our wedding was which made my heart sing knowing that all of the thought and love put into this day did not go unnoticed!

DIY Wedded Bliss

My husband Scott and I met November 22, 2006 at my new neighbors Thanksgiving Eve party. Neither of us knew it then but our lives would forever change after that night!! Scott was a widower of 10 years and trying to raise his the 12 year old son by him self and I was just getting over a very difficult time in my life as well. We both had been married before and we both agreed we would not get married ever again!! Fast forward 7 years and due to Scott's job and traveling back and forth to Afghanistan to help fight terrorist over seas. We both agreed to get married in case something were to happen to him, I would be taken care of and our brand new house wouldn't be sold out from underneath me because I could not afford those payments on my own. But mostly we got married because well, to put it simply we are madly in love!!!
My first marriage began at the justice of peace and Scott had the traditional Church wedding. I wanted a real wedding but was floored when I started pricing the wedding of my dreams, sticker shock does not do my feelings at the time justice , to say the least!! So, I did all kinds of research and we decided to get married at our home in Chestertown, Md. we chose our 7 year anniversary date as our wedding date but because it fell the week prior to thanksgiving and on a week day we went with Nov 30 which was the Saturday after Thanksgiving the following week.
I wanted Spring/ Summer flowers in November and Fifty Flowers delivered!! They were beautiful and lasted for a few weeks after the wedding. I loved the boutonnieres and centerpieces, I really loved the baby pink roses for my bouquet and the bridesmaids bouquets however in hindsight I can see from our pictures that the baby's breath was not put in them right and they could have been trimmed a little better..... of course there were other things I wish I had noticed or thought of ahead of time. But all in all it turned out beautifully and the only professional services we used were for the officiant, the Dj, the cake and the flowers (from Fifty Flowers!) we did everything else ourselves with the help of family and close friends!!!
. This will be year 6 for marriage and 13 as a couple and I look back on that day and smile!! Thank you Fifty Flowers for my DIY dream wedding flowers!!
My daughter is getting married May 4th, 2019 and Fifty Flowers will be our Flower Vendor for this occasion as well!!
In Kind Regards,
Jennifer and Scott Hornback
