Caring for Your Flowers
Our flowers are shipped fresh directly from our farms to your doorstep. When you first open the box, your flowers might appear "sleepy" or "thirsty," which is completely normal. These flowers have just completed an international journey and need water. Following the important care and preparation steps below will help rehydrate them and ensure they last as long as possible.
Flower Care Steps – From Arrival to Arrangement
Step 1: Unpack and Inspect
Unpack and Inspect: Cut any straps to remove flowers from the box, but leave their protective packaging and rubber bands on for the first 4 hours of hydration. As you unpack, check your blooms for any visible concerns.
Process Immediately: Begin the steps below immediately upon opening the box to ensure your flowers rehydrate and recover from their journey.
Step 2: Prepare the Containers
Choose Clean Buckets or Vases: Ensure your containers are clean and sanitized to remove soap residue, bacteria, and dirt, which can shorten flower life.
Fill Containers: Add at least 4 inches of cool, fresh water, and mix in flower food if available.
Step 3: Trim and Place in Water
Remove Foliage Below the Waterline: Strip leaves that will fall below the waterline to prevent mold or bacteria growth.
Cut Stems Correctly: Use clean, sharp floral shears to cut stems diagonally about 1 inch from the bottom. Avoid household scissors, as they pinch the stems and block water absorption.
Place and Space: Place the freshly cut stems into the prepared water immediately, ensuring enough space in each container to allow the flowers to bloom properly.
Step 4: Hydrate and Maintain
Hydration Time: Allow flowers at least 4 hours to hydrate, though 8 to 12 hours is ideal. After hydrating, remove any protective packaging, rubber bands, and guard petals, if present (outer layers that may look bruised or brown).
Store in a Cool Place: Keep flowers in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat. Avoid placing them in a refrigerator, as this can harm flowers.
Monitor Water Levels: Flowers drink heavily upon arrival, so check frequently to ensure all stems are always submerged. If the water drops below the stems, refill immediately and recut them before placing them back in the container.
Step 5: Time to Design
Ready to Arrange: After completing the hydration and processing steps above, your flowers are now ready for design.
Recut and Maintain: As you design, make sure to recut the stems and maintain water levels.
Refresh Regularly: Change water daily and recut stems every 24-48 hours to keep flowers fresh.

Warm environments speed up blooming, while cooler areas slow it down. Adjust storage as needed, but always avoid direct sunlight and excessive heat.
Use a floral finishing spray after arranging blooms to help them last longer.
Precautions
Tinted Flowers: Tinted roses may release color into the water, which is perfectly normal. To keep the water clear and clean, be sure to change it regularly. Tinted water can also stain surfaces, so be cautious. The dye may transfer to skin or clothing, so we recommend wearing gloves while handling. For added protection, especially with clothing like a white wedding dress, wrap the stems to prevent dye from transferring.
Thorns: Flowers with thorns require extra care. Wear gloves when handling them, and consider using a thorn stripping tool for added ease and safety.

The roses were in great condition, and the ranunculus beautiful, however, every single delphinium was ruined by mold and I couldn’t use any of them in the arrangements. I did appreciate that the packaging helped prevent bruising and the mold didn’t spread to other flowers due to the packaging. The roses were stunning and everyone at our event commented on how fragrant they were. I was also very happy with customer service in addressing shipping and a refund of the add on tropical ginger that was unable to be shipped.

We ordered this collections and some watermelon pink ranunculus to use for may daughters wedding last weekend, for the bouquet and centerpieces. Everything arrived on time, with excellent tracking info. However the peach-colored stock was pretty sad shape and did not rebound after placing in water so we couldn't use it. Everything else looked great.

I ordered the pink paradise and sugar plum kits for a flower bar event- per fifty flowers recommended time frame I scheduled delivery on Thursday (2 days before event). Order was delayed due to weather (not their fault just putting it out there) and was delivered late Friday night (around 6pm). I opened boxes immediately to get flowers in water since they were stuck in box for the extra day- upon opening I was very concerned with quality- I know that straight from box flowers tend to be droopy but they were very lifeless looking, many severely bruised, some flowers detached from stems, etc. (about half the ranunaculas were crushed/damaged beyond usability and the peach roses were very bruised/turning brown). I had high hopes though so stuck in buckets and hoped for the best. The roses were all very well packed but everything else was just tossed in box which probably wouldn’t have been an issue if the roses hadn’t been wrapped so densely in their cardboard sleeves (non roses were just in flower bags). When I order flowers I usually receive them closer to bud form rather than already fully bloomed so this was a bit disappointing as they will not last as long for my clients. I may try and give fifty flowers another chance on the off hand this was all due to weather delay but for the price point I had much higher expectations.

In regards to flowers being in a open state, our DIY kits and centerpieces are picked and packed at this stage to be ready to use. For further, if you want them more in a closed state we suggest ordering from our bulk selection where blooms are packed in a closed state but it will also have more leaves and thorns in the stems.
