Please Note

Your flowers will arrive looking thirsty and sleepy. This is absolutely NORMAL. Please see our Flower Care tab on this page to learn how to properly care for and handle your flowers.

As flowers are a natural product of Mother Nature and monitor resolutions can differ, the exact color tones of this flower may vary to some degree.

Package contents and prices are based on availability and may change due to weather and market conditions. If a substitution is necessary, we take great care to ensure your order closely matches your original flower choice, even if this means substituting flowers of higher value. While we will make every effort to contact you, there may be rare instances where we are unable to reach you in time. In such cases, we may proceed with substitutions to ensure your order ships on schedule, even without prior verbal confirmation.

Caring for Your Garden Roses

Our flowers are shipped fresh directly from our farms to your doorstep. When you first open the box, your flowers might appear "sleepy" or "thirsty," which is completely normal. These flowers have just completed an international journey and need water. Following the important care and preparation steps below will help rehydrate them and ensure they last as long as possible.

Flower Care Steps – From Arrival to Arrangement

Step 1: Unpack and Inspect

  • Unpack and Inspect: Cut any straps to remove flowers from the box, but leave their protective packaging on for the first 4 hours of hydration. As you unpack, check your blooms for any visible concerns.

  • Process Immediately: Begin the steps below immediately upon opening the box to ensure your flowers rehydrate and recover from their journey.

Step 2: Prepare the Containers

  • Choose Clean Buckets or Vases: Ensure your containers are clean and sanitized to remove soap residue, bacteria, and dirt, which can shorten flower life.

  • Fill Containers: Add at least 4 inches of cool, fresh water, and mix in flower food if available.

Step 3: Trim and Place in Water

  • Remove Foliage Below the Waterline: Strip leaves that will fall below the waterline to prevent mold or bacteria growth.

  • Cut Stems Correctly: Use clean, sharp floral shears to cut stems diagonally about 1 inch from the bottom. Avoid household scissors, as they pinch the stems and block water absorption.

  • Place and Space: Place the freshly cut stems into the prepared water immediately, ensuring enough space in each container to allow the flowers to bloom properly.

Step 4: Hydrate and Maintain

  • Hydration Time: Allow flowers at least 4 hours to hydrate, though 8 to 12 hours is ideal. After hydrating, remove protective packaging and guard petals (outer layers that may look bruised or brown).

  • Store in a Cool Place: Keep flowers in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat. Avoid placing them in a refrigerator, as this can harm flowers.

  • Monitor Water Levels: Flowers drink heavily upon arrival, so check frequently to ensure all stems are always submerged. If the water drops below the stems, refill immediately and recut them before placing them back in the container.

Step 5: Time to Design

  • Ready to Arrange: After completing the hydration and processing steps above, your flowers are now ready for design.

  • Recut and Maintain: As you design, make sure to recut the stems and maintain water levels.

  • Refresh Regularly: Change water daily and recut stems every 24-48 hours to keep flowers fresh.

Tips from Our Experts

  • Always keep flower buds above the bucket or vase rim to prevent your blooms from bruising.

  • Warm environments speed up blooming, while cooler areas slow it down. Adjust storage as needed, but always avoid direct sunlight and excessive heat.

  • Use a floral finishing spray after arranging blooms to help them last longer.

Precautions

  • Thorns: Flowers with thorns require extra care. Wear gloves when handling them, and consider using a thorn stripping tool for added ease and safety.

The prettiest rose ever. Completely obsessed and everyone told me how much they loved them. Were mistaken for peonies, but they definitely have a sturdier look in my opinion.

Although these were absolutely lovely, they were a much different color than what was pictured. The outside petals were a fushia pink and the inner petals were a pale pink. As our color palate for our bouquets was white, cream, and pale pink...the color was just a little off. Thus, the 4 star rating. However, we didn't mind some brighter pinks for our centerpieces so they worked great there. But...these were absolutely stunning.

Beautiful fragrance but expected healthier blooms

Package arrived on time and protected well however the blooms I expected to be larger and more vibrant. The blooms were limp and needed a few hours to perk up but stems were still limp and did not look fresh. Several thorns were still on the stems and pricked my fingers. For the price I expected more

Hi Johnny,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for choosing our David Austin Pink Cloud Constance Garden Rose. We truly appreciate your input and are genuinely dedicated to improving every customer experience.
We are glad to hear your package arrived on time and well-protected. However, we are empathetic to the concerns you raised regarding the condition of the blooms and stems, as well as the thorns on the stems. We understand that you expected vibrant, fresh roses and a more seamless preparation process, and we regret that this did not meet your expectations.
When it comes to garden roses like the Constance, they often ship in a dormant state for protection during transit. This means they may initially appear limp but typically perk up beautifully after being rehydrated and properly prepared. For future reference, we have flower care tips available on the product page to help your roses look their best.
Additionally, we understand your concern about the thorns left on the stems, but they are a natural part of receiving farm-fresh flowers straight from the source. Feedback like yours helps us address these details with our farms, improve our processes for future deliveries, and incorporate into our flower education.
For future reference, we kindly remind customers to report concerns within 24 hours of delivery, as this allows us to address issues in a timely manner.
Once again, we value your feedback and appreciate the opportunity to improve. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any additional questions or concerns—we're here to help.
