Additional Information

Your Tulips will arrive closed, but once placed in water, the bloom and stem will continue to open and grow substantially.
Tulips have a natural bend. Please see the Flower Care tab on this page for detailed tips on how to care for them and keep them upright.
Tulips are phototropic, meaning that the blooms will follow the light. If possible, try to place the flowers directly under the light so that the flowers stand straight.

Please Note

Your flowers will arrive looking thirsty and sleepy. This is absolutely NORMAL. Please see our Flower Care tab on this page to learn how to properly care for and handle your flowers.

As flowers are a natural product of Mother Nature and monitor resolutions can differ, the exact color tones of this flower may vary to some degree.

Package contents and prices are based on availability and may change due to weather and market conditions. If a substitution is necessary, we take great care to ensure your order closely matches your original flower choice, even if this means substituting flowers of higher value. While we will make every effort to contact you, there may be rare instances where we are unable to reach you in time. In such cases, we may proceed with substitutions to ensure your order ships on schedule, even without prior verbal confirmation.

Caring for Your Tulips

Our flowers are shipped fresh directly from our farms to your doorstep. When you first open the box, your flowers might appear "sleepy" or "thirsty," which is completely normal. These flowers have just completed an international journey and need water. Following the important care and preparation steps below will help rehydrate them and ensure they last as long as possible.

Flower Care Steps – From Arrival to Arrangement

Step 1: Unpack and Inspect

  • Unpack and Inspect: Cut any straps to remove flowers from the box, but leave their protective packaging on for the first 4 hours of hydration. As you unpack, check your blooms for any visible concerns.

  • Process Immediately: Begin the steps below immediately upon opening the box to ensure your flowers rehydrate and recover from their journey. Again, don’t worry if they appear sleepy or thirsty—they will perk up beautifully with proper care.

Step 2: Prepare the Containers

  • Choose Clean Buckets or Vases: Ensure your containers are clean and sanitized to remove soap residue, bacteria, and dirt, which can shorten flower life.

  • Fill Containers: Add at least 4 inches of cool, fresh water, and mix in flower food if available.

Step 3: Trim and Place in Water

  • Remove Foliage Below the Waterline: Strip leaves that will fall below the waterline to prevent mold or bacteria growth.

  • Cut Stems Correctly: Use clean, sharp floral shears to cut stems diagonally about 1 inch from the bottom. Avoid household scissors, as they pinch the stems and block water absorption.

  • Place and Space: Place the freshly cut stems into the prepared water immediately, ensuring enough space in each container to allow the flowers to bloom properly.

Step 4: Hydrate and Maintain

  • Hydration Time: After the initial 4-hour hydration period, remove protective packaging, strip additional leaves and thorns (if applicable).

  • Re-cut and Space: Give your flowers another fresh cut and place them in your prepared buckets. You may need to spread your stems out into more buckets to give them even more room to bloom. It is important not to overcrowd your buckets. Allow your flowers to continue to hydrate for another 8 hours before beginning the design process.

  • Store in a Cool Place: Keep flowers in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat. Avoid placing them in a refrigerator, as this can harm flowers.

  • Monitor Water Levels: Flowers drink heavily upon arrival, so check frequently to ensure all stems are always submerged. If the water drops below the stems, refill immediately and recut them before placing them back in the container.

Step 5: Time to Design

  • Ready to Arrange: After completing the hydration and processing steps above, your flowers are now ready for design.

  • Recut and Maintain: As you design, make sure to recut the stems and maintain water levels.

  • Refresh Regularly: Change water daily and recut stems every 24-48 hours to keep flowers fresh.

Special Notes for Tulips

  • Tulips will arrive closed but will bloom and continue to grow in both stem and head after being placed in water.

  • Tulips are phototropic — they naturally bend and follow the light. For straighter stems, place the flowers in a well-lit area with light directly overhead.

  • If stems appear bowed, trim the ends and wrap the tulips loosely in newspaper, leaving the lower third exposed. Stand upright in water with a direct light source overhead to encourage straightening.

Parrot tulips

I had a vision of what I wanted my daughter's wedding reception tables to look like, but the parrot tulips we received from Fiftyflowers were overwhelmingly gorgeous and more than lived up to my expectations. I used a different color/variety on every table - 30 in each mercury vase. It placed on a 14" round mirror and surrounded with 10 mercury votives. The effect was magical. I did not do the brides/maids bouquets etc myself - I didn't think I had enough experience. But that I regret. Fiftyflower's parrot tulips were much more beautiful than the florists. Ironically, the florist had told me that she was expecting me to come running to her at the last moment because I would probably be disappointed in the flowers I ordered online and desperate for her help. Nothing could have been further from the truth. Fiftyflowers was definitely one of the best decisions we made for my daughter's wedding. Katie was just thrilled with the outcome and every guest commented on the beauty of the very simple yet elegant flower centerpieces. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic Flowers!

I was very nervous about ordering flowers online and putting them together myself, but it turned out great and was super affordable! If you follow the care directions exactly your flowers will be perfect! When the flowers arrived they wern't open yet, but we cut the stems and put them in water and were perfect for the big day! With all the greens that come with the wedding packages it made it super easy to make bouquets! We ordered the 200 mini calla lilly and 50 standard calla lilly package! We used the flowers for my bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets, boutonnieres, alter decorations, corsages and we even had a mishap with the cake that was solved with extra flowers, our adorable ring bearer thought he should stick his finger in the cake, it was easily decorated/covered up with the beautiful calla lilies! It was simple and just perfect, I would recommend to anyone who wants something specific and affordable!

Never ever ever again! These were our "splurge" flowers and they were a HUGE disappointment. We followed the instructions and they never really bloomed. Also, 1 out of 5 had a large brown deformity ---- like a scab.

Dry Run

To save money, I wanted to put together my own bouquet as well as the bouquets. boutonnieres, and corsages for the wedding party. I found a design I loved, but needed to find the flowers and the greens, etc. I was very lucky to find FiftyFlowers.com and decided to do a \"dry run\" to see how the flowers looked after they were shipped and how long they would last according to the flower care instructions. I am EXTREMELY pleased at the condition of the flowers. They have bloomed so nicely. I will definitely be ordering my flowers for my wedding from FiftyFlowers.com and will recommend this company to my friends, family, co-workers, and strangers on the street. They were (still are) just beautiful. Thank you!!
