Bulk Roses are shipped directly from our farms to your doorstep. Before shipping your flowers, we prepare them for their journey with proper hydration methods. If your flowers appear sleepy and thirsty after their journey, it is absolutely NORMAL. Just follow these simple steps to ensure your flowers have the proper care.

Tip: Wear protective gloves while handling your roses. Thorns may be present and tinted roses can stain hands and clothing.

  1. When your boxes arrive, it is important to get your flowers in water as quickly as possible.
  2.  Remove roses from box by cutting any straps. Do not remove the cardboard sleeve that is holding the roses together in a bunch. It is recommended to leave the cardboard sleeve on for 4 to 8 hours while the roses hydrate and then remove once well hydrated. Remove all plastic packaging and rubber bands.
  3. Inspect your flowers.*
  4. Gather clean buckets, vases, or containers for your flowers. Ensure your buckets, vases containers are very clean. We recommend rinsing them with warm water.
  5. Fill the buckets or containers with at least 4 inches of fresh, cool water. If flower food is available, follow the package directions for adding it to the water.
  6. Remove any foliage from the flowers that falls below the waterline of your containers. When removing foliage, care should be taken to not damage the stem. Removing any foliage that falls below the waterline will help prevent the  growth of mold or bacteria which could cause premature wilting.
  7. Cut stems diagonally under running water using clean, sharp flower shears or scissors. Cut approximately 1 inch from the bottom of the stem. Immediately after cutting, place the stems in the prepared water.
  8. Ensure that you have sufficient room in each container for the amount of stems you will be storing. Overcrowding may cause damage to flowers and effect proper blooming.
  9. Allow the roses at least 4 hours to hydrate well. It can take up to 8 to 12 hours to properly hydrate. If you see that some flowers are still drooping after 3-4 hours, it it  possible an air bubble has formed in the stem.  Re-cut following the above directions.
  10. Keep flowers in a cool, dark location away from direct sunlight, drafts, or extreme temperatures and heat.
  11. To keep your flowers fresh, change the water every 24 to 48 hours or when the water becomes cloudy. The water will change color if the roses are tinted.. Simply change water as directed. Ensure that your flowers have sufficient water at all times. They will drink an exceptionally large amount of water upon arrival.
  12. We ship our roses with guard petals intact in order to protect the rose during shipping. Upon removal of the protective cardboard packaging, carefully pluck off any brown or discolored guard petals. It is not uncommon to remove an average of 5-10 petals per rose.

Remember that exposing flowers  to warm temperatures will help the flower to bloom, and storing your flowers in a cooler environment will slow down the blooming process.

*Note: Our roses are packed 25 stems per bunch. Looking at the bunch from above it will appear as if there are only 12 roses. Our roses are packed in layers to ensure protection during shipping. Below the first layer is a second layer which hold the other 13 rose stems. If you are unsure, count the STEMS instead of the rose heads and you will see there are 25 per bunch.

*If upon first inspection, you foresee a problem with your flowers, do not proceed processing your order. Leave the flowers intact in the box and call us immediately at 1-877-50 ROSES (507-6737

My Mom freaked out. She has some experience working with flowers in the retail setting. She was amazed at how great and how fresh these flowers were when they arrived. She drove my bouquet from Missouri to Arizona, without water and without any care. When she pulled my bouquet apart 8 days after our wedding, she found 6 Limeaid Roses in the middle that were still very alive. She had them in a vase on her table for 4 more days! Still beautiful.

I'm not really sure where I got the idea to DIY my wedding flowers, but from the start of wedding planning it was the only option I considered - and I am SO glad I did! Although it was a large project, way beyond my expertise, and very overwhelming at times, it went unbelievably well. The flowers were absolutely beautiful, and guests kept asking who did our flowers - so that felt great! I explored pretty much every DIY flower ordering option I could find out there, and no company came close to what FiftyFlowers could offer me. I wanted some more unique flowers/colors, and they had that. Their free shipping is amazing as well! For the most part, I did a lot of the research on my own, but when I did have questions, their customer service was great. I also loved the confirmation emails, texts and phone calls! As a stressed bride, it was great to know exactly where all the flowers were and when.

As far as flower care, I did everything myself. LOTS of buckets! When it came time to assemble the bouquets, I called in my mom for help. We started at 9 am, and finished at 1 pm the day before the wedding. In this time we finished 4 bridesmaids bouquets, 1 mini bouquet for my niece - the mini bridesmaid :) , a bridal bouquet, and one test bouquet (first one was not what I was definitely took some playing and testing!). When it was time to head to the venue, we loaded up our freshly assembled bouqs, and many many buckets into the car (you'll definitely need a van or SUV for this part!). Since my centerpieces were just painted mason jars filled with flowers, we decided to assemble them all at the venue. Way easier than transporting 25 jars filled with flowers and water! We finished all the centerpieces in about 1.5 hours, for the most part it was just us 2 working together. We had wanted to make boutonnieres, but time did not allow, and I was totally ok with that. I think it worked with our theme, and let's be honest - boutonnieres are pretty annoying to keep on anyway! We made one for my grandma who specifically requested she have one...and then she didn't put it on until about halfway into the reception (go figure!).

Overall, my experience with FiftyFlowers was great! I cannot say enough good things about them, or DIYing your wedding flowers. I am a wedding photographer, and I now suggest it to all my brides! If I could do it again, I definitely would. Thank you FiftyFlowers for allowing me to make my wedding even more memorable!
