Bulk Garden Roses are shipped directly from our farms without water tubes. Before shipping your flowers, we prepare them for their journey with proper hydration methods. If your flowers appear sleepy and thirsty after their journey, it is absolutely NORMAL. Just follow these simple steps and the flowers will bloom delightfully.

  1. Remove flowers from box by cutting any straps. Our Garden Roses are shipped in special packaging that may or may not include water boxes, water tubes or wet foam. No matter the packaging, your Garden Roses have been properly prepared for shipping. Remove any of this special packaging including any plastic wrapping so as not to create condensation which will cause rotting, but do NOT remove the cardboard sleeve or the rubber bands holding the flowers together in a bunch.
  2. Fill containers with at least 4 inches of fresh, cool water.
  3. Add floral food to prevent bacteria from forming in the water and to give added nutrients to the Roses. If you do not have flower food, it can be purchased at any local florist.
  4. Remove any leaves that fall below the water line. Not removing the leaves may cause bacteria to form and shorten the Rose's life.
  5. Using sharp scissors or a knife, cut the stems diagonally under running water approximately one inch from each stem's bottom edge.
  6. Immediately after cutting, place the stems in the prepared water.
  7. Allow flowers at least 4 hours to hydrate well. Garden Roses may take up to 12 hours to properly hydrate. Leave the plastic or cardboard packaging around the blooms for a minimum of 4 hours. This will allow the Roses sufficient time to hydrate properly.
  8. Keep flowers away from direct sunlight, drafts or excessive heat.
  9. To keep the Garden Roses fresh, change the water every 24 to 48 hours or when the water becomes cloudy. Assure that your flowers have sufficient water. The flowers will drink an exceptionally large amount of water upon arrival.

We ship our Garden Roses with guard petals in order to protect the blooms during shipping. Upon removal of the protective packaging, remove any brown or discolored guard petals. It is not uncommon to remove an average of 5 to 10 petals per bloom.

Remember that exposing Garden Roses to warmer environments (outside, a hot room, etc) will help the flower bloom, and storing your Roses in a cooler environment will slow down the opening process.

A spooky harvest elopement at home (thanks covid!)

We had planned to have a 50 person wedding on the Washington coast on 10/31/2020 with neon sign photo backdrop, large garlands on each table, and curtains of lights. It the 31st fell on a Saturday, we wanted a Samhain wedding, and it was a blue moon! But the world had other plans, so in June 2020, we decided to postpone our big party and elope at home. Our original aesthetic was moody, lush, overgrown, rustic, like a feast at a witch's house, but we had to tone it down to make it easy to celebrate with just our parents and officiant.

My mom and I did all the flowers ourselves, including a bridal bouquet, a wedding arch, and table decorations for our indoor serving table and the outdoor table where the 8 of us ate. I decided to keep it simple and inexpensive and order this single mixed pack of flowers. The roses in the first shipment arrived damaged, but fiftyflowers came to the rescue and made sure I had 2 dozen more roses to use by the day of my elopement. We made the arch from local foraged plants from my yard and tucked flowers into it. We made several full size bouquets, many small ones to tuck into various trinkets, and layered the outdoor table with greens and roses.

Overall, fairly easy and stress-free experience both working with fiftyflowers and DIYing my flowers. I intend on DIYing my much larger ceremony (fingers crossed for October 2021) and using fiftyflowers for a much larger order.

Long awaited micro-wedding

My husband and I originally planned to have an elopement-style wedding in Italy last summer in order to keep it simple, but after COVID-19 broke out, we decided to hold a micro-wedding in my hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico this past October. We invited friends, family, and co-workers to stream our wedding online, and I was determined to have lots of flowers at our ceremony! It took 4 of us a full 3 days to make all of the arrangements, and we eventually ran out of time, so we had some flowers left over. I barely slept those 3 days, but the end result was so worth it. We got so many compliments on our flowers from guests watching from home! It was nice to create a beautiful elegant setting for everyone to enjoy especially in these trying times. We also made arrangements for a small rehearsal dinner and small wedding dinner. I ordered mostly shades of pinks and a few accent colors, and I was amazed how I was able to create three distinct "looks" for the events (whites, pinks, and lavender for the rehearsal dinner, pastels for the wedding ceremony, and romantic pinks, reds, and maroon for the wedding dinner). I plan to use Fifty Flowers for my wedding reception next year--fingers crossed it is safe for everyone to be together then!
