Give your bouquet a moody touch with Burgundy Wine Fresh Cut Anemone Flower. Anemones are circular blooms, with soft petals surrounding a black center filled with fuzzy florets. Burgundy varieties chave a blend of different colors on their petals; some have deep indigo undertones, while others will be more pinky purple. Use this bloom for dark-but-striking rustic arrangements. Pair with blooms like burgundy berry dahlia flowers, hydrangea lime green flowers, and Veronica flowers periwinkle lavender.

Additional Information

Due to the delicate nature of anemones, at times we will pack additional stems in each package to account for potential spoilage.
Anemones tend to vary in color from bloom to bloom; this is a naturally occurring phenomenon. Burgundy Wine Anemones will have a variety of undertones including indigo, pink, and purple.
Anemones are phototropic flowers, meaning they naturally bend toward light. They may also open in bright conditions and close at night. Please see the Flower Care tab on this page for detailed tips on how to care for them and keep them upright.

Please Note

Your flowers will arrive looking thirsty and sleepy. This is absolutely NORMAL. Please see our Flower Care tab on this page to learn how to properly care for and handle your flowers.

As flowers are a natural product of Mother Nature and monitor resolutions can differ, the exact color tones of this flower may vary to some degree.

Package contents and prices are based on availability and may change due to weather and market conditions. If a substitution is necessary, we take great care to ensure your order closely matches your original flower choice, even if this means substituting flowers of higher value. While we will make every effort to contact you, there may be rare instances where we are unable to reach you in time. In such cases, we may proceed with substitutions to ensure your order ships on schedule, even without prior verbal confirmation.

Caring for Your Anemones

Our flowers are shipped fresh directly from our farms to your doorstep. When you first open the box, your flowers might appear "sleepy" or "thirsty," which is completely normal. These flowers have just completed an international journey and need water. Following the important care and preparation steps below will help rehydrate them and ensure they last as long as possible.

Flower Care Steps – From Arrival to Arrangement

Step 1: Unpack and Inspect

  • Unpack and Inspect: Cut any straps to remove flowers from the box, but leave their protective packaging on for the first 4 hours of hydration. As you unpack, check your blooms for any visible concerns.

  • Process Immediately: Begin the steps below immediately upon opening the box to ensure your flowers rehydrate and recover from their journey.

Step 2: Prepare the Containers

  • Choose Clean Buckets or Vases: Ensure your containers are clean and sanitized to remove soap residue, bacteria, and dirt, which can shorten flower life.

  • Fill Containers: Add at least 4 inches of cool, fresh water, and mix in flower food if available.

Step 3: Trim and Place in Water

  • Remove Foliage Below the Waterline: Strip leaves that will fall below the waterline to prevent mold or bacteria growth.

  • Cut Stems Correctly: Use clean, sharp floral shears to cut stems diagonally about 1 inch from the bottom. Avoid household scissors, as they pinch the stems and block water absorption.

  • Place and Space: Place the freshly cut stems into the prepared water immediately, ensuring enough space in each container to allow the flowers to bloom properly.

Step 4: Hydrate and Maintain

  • Hydration Time: Allow flowers at least 4 hours to hydrate, though 8 to 12 hours is ideal. After hydrating, remove protective packaging and guard petals (outer layers that may look bruised or brown).

  • Store in a Cool Place: Keep flowers in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat. Avoid placing them in a refrigerator, as this can harm flowers.

  • Monitor Water Levels: Flowers drink heavily upon arrival, so check frequently to ensure all stems are always submerged. If the water drops below the stems, refill immediately and recut them before placing them back in the container.

Step 5: Time to Design

  • Ready to Arrange: After completing the hydration and processing steps above, your flowers are now ready for design.

  • Recut and Maintain: As you design, make sure to recut the stems and maintain water levels.

  • Refresh Regularly: Change water daily and recut stems every 24-48 hours to keep flowers fresh.

Tips from Our Experts

  • Always keep flower buds above the bucket or vase rim to prevent your blooms from bruising.

  • Warm environments speed up blooming, while cooler areas slow it down. Adjust storage as needed, but always avoid direct sunlight and excessive heat.

  • Use a floral finishing spray after arranging blooms to help them last longer.

Surprisingly sturdy with a pop of rich color.

I added the Burgundy Wine Fresh Cut Anemone to the ready-made Fortuna Red Rose Luxury Flower Centerpieces to pull the arrangements a little more toward burgundy and dark purple rather than bright red for a winter wedding. These really did the trick! I received delivery on Wednesday, made the arrangements Friday, and the wedding was Sunday. The flowers looked great, and they are still in bloom 10 days later. Anemones will stay tightly closed if in a cool dark location. They start to open when in light--even indoor lighting, so keep them in the dark as much as possible before your event. When open, they are also sturdy and lasting. I put two in a frog vase and they stand up easily on their own and keep on blooming their hearts out. Highly recommend!

Hi Barbara! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review for our Burgundy Wine Fresh Cut Anemone Flower. We are thrilled to hear that they added a pop of rich color and helped pull your arrangements together for a winter wedding. It's great to know that the flowers held up well and are still in bloom 10 days later. We also appreciate your tip about keeping them in a cool, dark location before the event to ensure they stay tightly closed. Thank you for recommending our product, and we hope to serve you again in the future!

Anemone's

These flowers were BEAUTIFUL. I usually don't like working with these because they can be so finicky. I even had a back up plan to utilize fake ones just in case. These were AMAZING. They came still closed and opened up beautifully within a day. Delivery was on time, everything was packaged perfectly. Would definitely order again.

Hi Jenn!

I'm so happy you enjoyed your Anemones. Even though it's always good to have a backup plan, our anemones are pretreated to withstand the journey. You'll have a beautifull flower ready for your event! They're delicate flowers, but if you follow our care tips there's nothing to worry about.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us and please keep choosing us for any events in the future!

I was worried about these because everyone says how delicate they are, but these arrived in pristine condition! I was careful in how I arranged them, but there were so, so pretty! The perfect pop of deep wine color for the fall palette.

4 Stars

The only reason I'm giving these lovelies 4 stars is due to their very short stems. Which really isn't fair because short flowers need love too! Truth is that I struggled finding homes for them in the arrangements - especially my gigantic bridal bouquet because their short stems made it hard to get them in the middle of arrangements. That being said, their huge, unique and eye-catching gem-tones blooms make up for it all! Even though they were stuck in around the edges of the centerpieces and the bouquets, they were still front and center! Also, they were surprisingly hardy!
