Caring for Your Flowers

Our flowers are shipped fresh directly from our farms to your doorstep. When you first open the box, your flowers might appear "sleepy" or "thirsty," which is completely normal. These flowers have just completed an international journey and need water. Following the important care and preparation steps below will help rehydrate them and ensure they last as long as possible.

Flower Care Steps – From Arrival to Arrangement

Step 1: Unpack and Inspect

  • Unpack and Inspect: Cut any straps to remove flowers from the box, but leave their protective packaging and rubber bands on for the first 4 hours of hydration. As you unpack, check your blooms for any visible concerns.

  • Process Immediately: Begin the steps below immediately upon opening the box to ensure your flowers rehydrate and recover from their journey.

Step 2: Prepare the Containers

  • Choose Clean Buckets or Vases: Ensure your containers are clean and sanitized to remove soap residue, bacteria, and dirt, which can shorten flower life.

  • Fill Containers: Add at least 4 inches of cool, fresh water, and mix in flower food if available.

Step 3: Trim and Place in Water

  • Remove Foliage Below the Waterline: Strip leaves that will fall below the waterline to prevent mold or bacteria growth.

  • Cut Stems Correctly: Use clean, sharp floral shears to cut stems diagonally about 1 inch from the bottom. Avoid household scissors, as they pinch the stems and block water absorption.

  • Place and Space: Place the freshly cut stems into the prepared water immediately, ensuring enough space in each container to allow the flowers to bloom properly.

Step 4: Hydrate and Maintain

  • Hydration Time: Allow flowers at least 4 hours to hydrate, though 8 to 12 hours is ideal. After hydrating, remove protective packaging, rubber bands, and guard petals, if present (outer layers that may look bruised or brown).

  • Store in a Cool Place: Keep flowers in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat. Avoid placing them in a refrigerator, as this can harm flowers.

  • Monitor Water Levels: Flowers drink heavily upon arrival, so check frequently to ensure all stems are always submerged. If the water drops below the stems, refill immediately and recut them before placing them back in the container.

Step 5: Time to Design

  • Ready to Arrange: After completing the hydration and processing steps above, your flowers are now ready for design.

  • Recut and Maintain: As you design, make sure to recut the stems and maintain water levels.

  • Refresh Regularly: Change water daily and recut stems every 24-48 hours to keep flowers fresh.

Tips from Our Experts

  • Always keep flower buds above the bucket or vase rim to prevent your blooms from bruising.

  • Warm environments speed up blooming, while cooler areas slow it down. Adjust storage as needed, but always avoid direct sunlight and excessive heat.

  • Use a floral finishing spray after arranging blooms to help them last longer.

Precautions

  • Tinted Flowers: Tinted flowers may release color into the water, which is perfectly normal. To keep the water clear and clean, be sure to change it regularly. Tinted water can also stain surfaces, so be cautious. The dye may transfer to skin or clothing, so we recommend wearing gloves while handling. For added protection, especially with clothing like a white wedding dress, wrap the stems to prevent dye from transferring.

  • Thorns: Flowers with thorns require extra care. Wear gloves when handling them, and consider using a thorn stripping tool for added ease and safety.

Gorgeous bridal shower flowers!

We were throwing my daughters bridal shower during my busiest time at work. I didn’t have time to be too picky. I saw these online and they looked great but you never know with online stuff. I took a chance(plus for these beautiful flowers it was only $300 for TWELVE bouquets). I read on the website that they would arrive “sleepy and thirsty” lol but they looked pretty good. They also told me based on the date of the event, WHEN the flowers should arrive so they would be open and perfect on the day of the shower. They were BEAUTIFUL. They came right on time I had the vases waiting. I got so many compliments from the guests. I already paid 8k for wedding flowers but I would absolutely recommend getting wedding bouquets and stuff from these guys especially if you’re on a budget! If you are good at arranging (which I am not) you could also just order loose flowers and put them together. I was VERY IMPRESSED with these guys! Sorry for being so long winded! :)

Hi Jen,

I'm so glad we were able to help you out on such a busy week! I know you were hesitant at first, but I'm so happy to hear that you liked our work.

It was our pleasure to ease a bit of the stress before your daughter's bridal shower, and you were able to enjoy the day. We've seen the pictures, and the arrangements look absolutely stunning!

Thank you for choosing us, and for recommending us to your friends. We would love to work with you again in the future.

Have a lovely day!

The delphinium came in terrible condition and needed to be replaced but by the time fifty flowers agreed to replacement we could not get delphinium or anything in the right color family. It Mae for a very stressful time. As soon as the flowers arrived we notified them that there appeared to be a problem, they told us to wait a day and the problem got worse so when they agreed to replace the flowers we had few options as to what we would get.

First Time Buyer - online

As a first time buyer, I was nervous to order through the mail. I had waited to long to order from my wholesale supplier and really dreaded the thought timewise of driving to Atlanta for an emergency order. Since my order was small and the flowers I was requesting required little to no refrigeration or care, I gave it a risk. I was rewarded with too many flowers, but thats ok this time, and a very happy bride. I would order again. It was a comfort that the staff anticipated my stress in ordering and were there for me every step of the way...I'm sure they deal with anxious flower people all the time. Good job calming my nerves.
