Package contents and prices are based on availability and may change due to weather and market conditions. If a substitution is necessary, we take great care to ensure your order closely matches your original flower choice, even if this means substituting flowers of higher value. While we will make every effort to contact you, there may be rare instances where we are unable to reach you in time. In such cases, we may proceed with substitutions to ensure your order ships on schedule, even without prior verbal confirmation.

Caring for Your Centerpieces

Our flowers are shipped fresh directly from our farms to your doorstep. When you first open the box, your flowers might appear "sleepy" or "thirsty," which is completely normal. These flowers have just completed an international journey and need water. Following the important care and preparation steps below will help rehydrate them and ensure they last as long as possible.

Flower Care Steps – From Arrival to Arrangement

Step 1: Unpack and Inspect

  • Unpack and Inspect: Cut any straps to remove flowers from the box, but leave their protective packaging on for the first 4 hours of hydration. As you unpack, check your blooms for any visible concerns.

  • Process Immediately: Begin the steps below immediately upon opening the box to ensure your flowers rehydrate and recover from their journey. Again, don’t worry if they appear sleepy or thirsty—they will perk up beautifully with proper care.

Step 2: Prepare the Containers

  • Choose Clean Buckets or Vases: Ensure your containers are clean and sanitized to remove soap residue, bacteria, and dirt, which can shorten flower life.

  • Fill Containers: Add at least 4 inches of cool, fresh water, and mix in flower food if available.

Step 3: Trim and Place in Water

  • Remove Foliage Below the Waterline: Strip leaves that will fall below the waterline to prevent mold or bacteria growth.

  • Cut Stems Correctly: Use clean, sharp floral shears to cut stems diagonally about 1 inch from the bottom. Avoid household scissors, as they pinch the stems and block water absorption.

  • Place and Space: Place the freshly cut centerpiece into the prepared water immediately. If placing more than one centerpiece in a bucket, make sure there is enough space in each container to allow the flowers to bloom properly.

Step 4: Hydrate and Maintain

  • Hydration Time: After the initial 4-hour hydration period, remove protective packaging, strip additional leaves and thorns (if applicable).

  • Re-cut: Give your centerpiece another fresh cut and place it in your prepared container/bucket. Allow your flowers to continue to hydrate for another 8 hours before beginning the design process (see below).

  • Store in a Cool Place: Keep flowers in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat. Avoid placing them in a refrigerator, as this can harm flowers.

  • Monitor Water Levels: Flowers drink heavily upon arrival, so check frequently to ensure all stems are always submerged. If the water drops below the stems, refill immediately and recut them before placing them back in the container.

Step 5: Time to Design

  • Ready to Arrange: After completing the hydration and processing steps above, your centerpiece is now ready for you to add additional flowers (if desired).

  • Recut and Maintain: After your centerpiece is complete, make sure to recut the stems before placing in your container and maintain the water level.

  • Refresh Regularly: Change water daily and recut stems every 24-48 hours to keep flowers fresh.

Tips from Our Experts

  • Always keep flower buds above the bucket or vase rim to prevent your blooms from bruising.

  • Warm environments speed up blooming, while cooler areas slow it down. Adjust storage as needed, but always avoid direct sunlight and excessive heat.

  • Use a floral finishing spray after arranging blooms to help them last longer.

Precautions

  • Thorns: Flowers with thorns require extra care. Wear gloves when handling them, and consider using a thorn stripping tool for added ease and safety.

  • Tinted Flowers: If your centerpiece contains tinted flowers, they may release color into the water, which is perfectly normal. To keep the water clear and clean, be sure to change it regularly. Tinted water can also stain surfaces, so be cautious. The dye may transfer to skin or clothing, so we recommend wearing gloves while handling. For added protection, especially with clothing like a white wedding dress, wrap the stems to prevent dye from transferring.

Very happy with my purchase

I bought this flowers for a family event and, although they were slightly different than in the picture, they were still very beautiful, arrived on time, where a breeze to arrange in vases and lasted for over a week. I would definitely use Fifty Flowers again and definitely recommend it.

Great flowers!

I ordered these flowers for my mom’s 50th birthday party! They were delivered on time (Wednesday for a Saturday event) and we took care of them as instructed. They made it to the event and we got compliments!

We did lose a rose head and there were some substitutions of flowers but overall we were very satisfied!

All's Well That Ends Well

Let me start this by saying I was a bride that didn't have a dream flower look in mind. I wanted something that was pretty and affordable. I purchased 8 large arrangements and 1 premium arrangement for my wedding on 11/19. The flowers arrived on time. However, they were slightly different than the picture but still pretty. The problem was that a lot of the roses came in damaged/almost dead. A few of the other types of flowers were also dead/unusable. I was able to rearrange and make my bridal bouquet and my 3 bridesmaids bouquets out of the flowers from my order. I was able to make 6 centerpieces with the help of some grocery store roses and fillers. So, was my order perfect? No. Did it all work out in the end and I enjoy my flowers on my wedding day? Yes. Being flexible was a big blessing! I just wouldn't recommend this particular arrangement if you have a concrete idea in mind.
