A Step-by-Step DIY Guide: Wedding Chair Flowers

If you’re looking for a way to take your decor to the next level, consider creating wedding chair flowers for your ceremony or your sweetheart table chairs. This DIY project was surprisingly easy and didn’t take a long time to create! Follow our step-by-step guide and you'll have beautiful chair decorations in no time!

1. Gather Your Supplies

First things first: you need to gather your supplies and flowers! Here's exactly what you'll need:

2. Prepare Your Wholesale Flowers and Greenery

Start by processing your wholesale flowers and greenery. Remove any foliage that may fall below the water line and any thorns as well. Once your flowers are properly hydrated, begin to lay out your flowers and greens. This will make it easier to arrange.

3. Making the Chair Arrangement

Begin by creating an “X” using three stems of sword fern on the table. Then, layer in victorian lacey leaf, making sure to evenly balance the texture and size. We recommend focusing on the front of the arrangement rather than the back since you’ll be wiring the arrangement onto the chair.

4. Add Your Choice of Flowers

Once you have a solid foliage backdrop, begin to add your statement flowers. We chose our romantic antique pink garden roses, which paired perfectly with the greens. A stem of ming fern was also added into the mix. Ming offers fullness and amazing texture. A little goes a long way!

5. Wire your Stems

The arrangement isn’t quite finished yet, but we recommend stopping here and wiring this small bouquet. Once your bouquet is secured, trim the stems so they’re the same length.

6. Repeat the Wedding Chair Flowers Process

Set the arrangement aside and create a smaller bouquet using a garden rose, ming fern and victorian lacey leaf. Then, wire all three stems together and trim the arrangement so the stems are one length.

7. Add Finishing Touches

Turn the smaller bouquet upside down and insert the stems up into the first bouquet. Then, wire the stems together to make sure the arrangement is secure and one, solid piece. Adjust any stems as needed so the arrangement looks natural.

8. Secure Your Arrangement

Secure the finished arrangement onto the chair with wire. For more stability, we recommend wiring the top and bottom of the arrangement. Pro tip: have someone hold the arrangement into place while you’re wiring the flowers.
