An Autumn Minnesota Wedding

I had a vision for wedding flowers: simple, lots of greenery, and moody dark autumn colors ( the main point being simple!). We decided to do our own floral arrangements to save on costs and save on time coordinating with vendors as we live 4 hours away from the venue. I am so glad we did, everything turned out better than I had hoped!

We had a little hiccup the week of the wedding as the bronze dahlias were unavailable from the grower. Fifty Flowers went above and beyond to contact me and provide alternate choices that would be available! I am beyond impressed with their customer service.

Everything arrived and it was definitely labor intensive to prep the flowers and greenery and transfer them to buckets... Thankfully we have wonderful family and friends to help. One thing I regret was ordering way too much greenery.... Wow, there was so much! In hindsight, I could've saved some money and ordered much less.

We prepped our bouquets and table decor the night before the wedding. My bridesmaids, mom, and sister-in-law were AMAZING with all of their help! One of my bridesmaids has experience with floral arranging, so she put together all 6 bouquets and exceeded my expectations for what I had been imagining. For table decor, we had several small vases with simple arrangements with a few on each table. Super easy and super minimalist!

Our mid-September wedding should have been perfect weather, but Minnesota can be very unpredictable. It ended up being one of the hottest, humid weekends of the year! We're talking about 93 degrees... In September! To my surprise, all of the flowers held up nicely. There was some wilting at the end of the night, but nothing super noticeable. Choosing to do our own flowers was the absolute best decision!
