How to Create the Dramatic Bridal Bouquet

This isn't your average bridal bouquet. By adding just two unique flower types, we transformed a classic arrangement into a modern masterpiece. The addition of Red Hanging Amaranthus adds a beautiful cascading effect, while the sleek, heart-shaped Red Designer Anthuriums bring a touch of the tropics and a contemporary edge.

What You'll Need:

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Start with a Base: Begin by gathering a few of your main flowers from the kit, like the Mayra roses and hydrangeas, to form the center of your bouquet.

  2. Layer in Texture: Add in your accent flowers from the kit, such as the red spray roses. Turn the bouquet as you add stems to ensure it looks balanced from all angles.

  3. Add the Drama: Now for the fun part! Weave in the Red Hanging Amaranthus, allowing it to drape naturally down one side of the bouquet. Place the Red Designer Anthuriums at different heights to create visual interest and a modern feel.

  4. Secure and Finish: Once you're happy with the shape, wrap the stems tightly with floral tape. Finish by covering the tape with a beautiful silk or velvet ribbon.

How to Make the Modern Boutonniere

A boutonniere is a small detail that makes a big impact. This design is simple, elegant, and perfectly complements the bride's dramatic bouquet.

What You'll Need:

  • 1 red carnation

  • 1 red spray rose

  • A sprig of red hypericum berry

  • Floral tape and a pin

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Gather Your Flowers: Hold the red carnation as your main flower.

  2. Add Accents: Place the spray rose slightly in front of the carnation and tuck the hypericum berry behind it to add a pop of texture.

  3. Wrap It Up: Tightly wrap the stems together with floral tape, starting from the top and working your way down. Snip the bottom of the stems for a clean finish.

How to Design the Show-Stopping Floral Installations

To complete the look, we designed two stunning arrangements: one for the piano and a larger ground piece. These installations are perfect for framing a ceremony space or adding a touch of romance to your reception. Both use floral foam in a lomey dish, a go-to mechanic for creating sturdy, long-lasting designs.

What You'll Need:

  • Flowers from the Cherry Coded DIY Flower Kit

  • Floral foam

  • A lomey dish (a shallow plastic container)

  • Waterproof floral tape

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Prepare Your Foam: Soak your floral foam in water until it’s fully saturated (let it sink on its own; don't push it down!). Cut the foam to fit snugly inside your lomey dish.

  2. Secure the Mechanics: This is a crucial step! Create an 'X' over the foam with waterproof tape, securing the ends of the tape firmly to the sides of the lomey dish. For extra security, add another small piece of tape over the connection points where the tape meets the dish.

  3. Create a Base: Start by "greening" your arrangement. Insert your greenery stems into the foam to establish the overall shape and size of your design.

  4. Add Your Flowers: Begin adding your larger flowers, like hydrangeas, to create focal points. Then, fill in the gaps with your roses, carnations, and spray roses, making sure to vary the stem lengths to build dimension.

  5. Place the Arrangements: Your finished pieces are now ready to be placed! The piano arrangement can sit directly on the surface, while the ground piece is perfect for an aisle marker or at the foot of an altar.
