Your Premium Rose Subscription Box is shipped directly from our farms to your doorstep, prepared with hydration for the journey. If your roses appear slightly wilted or “sleepy” upon arrival, this is normal, and they will revive with proper care.
Tip: Wear protective gloves when handling roses, as thorns may be present, and tinted roses can stain hands and clothing.
-
Unpacking and Initial Inspection: Upon arrival, get your roses into water promptly. Carefully open the box, cut any securing straps, and leave the cardboard sleeve on the roses for 4-8 hours to support hydration. Remove any plastic packaging and rubber bands. Inspect your flowers; if you notice any concerns, keep them in the box and contact us at 1-877-50-ROSES (507-6737) for assistance.
-
Preparing Containers: Use clean buckets or vases, rinsed with warm water. Fill each with at least 4 inches of cool, fresh water and add flower food if available, following the package directions.
-
Removing Foliage: Carefully strip any leaves that fall below the waterline to prevent bacteria growth, which can cause premature wilting.
-
Trimming the Stems: With clean, sharp scissors or shears, cut each stem diagonally under running water, about one inch from the bottom, and immediately place the roses in the prepared containers.
-
Hydration Period and Guard Petals: Allow the roses to hydrate for at least 4 hours, with full hydration taking up to 8-12 hours. Once hydrated, remove the cardboard sleeve and gently pluck off any brown or discolored guard petals—removing 5-10 petals per rose is typical to reveal the freshest layers. If some flowers remain droopy after several hours, re-cut the stems to remove any air bubbles and place them back in water.
-
Placement and Storage: Store your roses in a cool, dark location, away from direct sunlight, drafts, and extreme heat. Change the water every 24-48 hours, especially if tinted roses alter the water color. Ensure your roses have sufficient water, as they will drink a large amount upon arrival.
Note: Warm temperatures will encourage blooming, while cooler storage will slow down the process.
