Package contents and prices are based on availability and may change due to weather and market conditions. If a substitution is necessary, we take great care to ensure your order closely matches your original flower choice, even if this means substituting flowers of higher value. While we will make every effort to contact you, there may be rare instances where we are unable to reach you in time. In such cases, we may proceed with substitutions to ensure your order ships on schedule, even without prior verbal confirmation.

Caring for Your Centerpieces

Our flowers are shipped fresh directly from our farms to your doorstep. When you first open the box, your flowers might appear "sleepy" or "thirsty," which is completely normal. These flowers have just completed an international journey and need water. Following the important care and preparation steps below will help rehydrate them and ensure they last as long as possible.

Flower Care Steps – From Arrival to Arrangement

Step 1: Unpack and Inspect

  • Unpack and Inspect: Cut any straps to remove flowers from the box, but leave their protective packaging on for the first 4 hours of hydration. As you unpack, check your blooms for any visible concerns.

  • Process Immediately: Begin the steps below immediately upon opening the box to ensure your flowers rehydrate and recover from their journey. Again, don’t worry if they appear sleepy or thirsty—they will perk up beautifully with proper care.

Step 2: Prepare the Containers

  • Choose Clean Buckets or Vases: Ensure your containers are clean and sanitized to remove soap residue, bacteria, and dirt, which can shorten flower life.

  • Fill Containers: Add at least 4 inches of cool, fresh water, and mix in flower food if available.

Step 3: Trim and Place in Water

  • Remove Foliage Below the Waterline: Strip leaves that will fall below the waterline to prevent mold or bacteria growth.

  • Cut Stems Correctly: Use clean, sharp floral shears to cut stems diagonally about 1 inch from the bottom. Avoid household scissors, as they pinch the stems and block water absorption.

  • Place and Space: Place the freshly cut centerpiece into the prepared water immediately. If placing more than one centerpiece in a bucket, make sure there is enough space in each container to allow the flowers to bloom properly.

Step 4: Hydrate and Maintain

  • Hydration Time: After the initial 4-hour hydration period, remove protective packaging, strip additional leaves and thorns (if applicable).

  • Re-cut: Give your centerpiece another fresh cut and place it in your prepared container/bucket. Allow your flowers to continue to hydrate for another 8 hours before beginning the design process (see below).

  • Store in a Cool Place: Keep flowers in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat. Avoid placing them in a refrigerator, as this can harm flowers.

  • Monitor Water Levels: Flowers drink heavily upon arrival, so check frequently to ensure all stems are always submerged. If the water drops below the stems, refill immediately and recut them before placing them back in the container.

Step 5: Time to Design

  • Ready to Arrange: After completing the hydration and processing steps above, your centerpiece is now ready for you to add additional flowers (if desired).

  • Recut and Maintain: After your centerpiece is complete, make sure to recut the stems before placing in your container and maintain the water level.

  • Refresh Regularly: Change water daily and recut stems every 24-48 hours to keep flowers fresh.

Tips from Our Experts

  • Always keep flower buds above the bucket or vase rim to prevent your blooms from bruising.

  • Warm environments speed up blooming, while cooler areas slow it down. Adjust storage as needed, but always avoid direct sunlight and excessive heat.

  • Use a floral finishing spray after arranging blooms to help them last longer.

Precautions

  • Thorns: Flowers with thorns require extra care. Wear gloves when handling them, and consider using a thorn stripping tool for added ease and safety.

  • Tinted Flowers: If your centerpiece contains tinted flowers, they may release color into the water, which is perfectly normal. To keep the water clear and clean, be sure to change it regularly. Tinted water can also stain surfaces, so be cautious. The dye may transfer to skin or clothing, so we recommend wearing gloves while handling. For added protection, especially with clothing like a white wedding dress, wrap the stems to prevent dye from transferring.

I loved these flowers. Smaller than anticipated but we received a lot of compliments on them, the pre made centerpiece had a lot of roses on them. I did purchase some extra greens just in case from my local grocery store but I didnt use much of them. I only used a lot of filler in our couples table centerpiece because it was the last one I made and i was running out of roses.

We ordered the ready made centerpieces however rearranged along with individual stems purchases in bulk to design our own look.

Peach & Burgundy NH Wedding

I had so much fun (although admittedly there were stressful moments) arranging my own flowers for the wedding. I knew exactly what colors I wanted, and FiftyFlowers made it easy to browse for flowers that fit my budget within that color scheme. They also made it easy to know how to care for them upon arrival. The flowers all came as scheduled on Thursday, and I did the initial prep by myself to get them into water. On Friday, one of my bridesmaids and I knocked out all the arrangements in a few hours, with a few extra sets of hands for the last hour. Centerpieces were easy to arrange ourselves as we used quart sized mason jars with frog lids. The flowers held up beautifully for the wedding and for several days after, and we received many compliments and sent some centerpieces home with family.

I did have to substitute the red astilbe flowers with hypericum berries last minute due to them not being available, but FiftyFlowers was very helpful in making the change, and I ended up loving the berries. It's good to have a backup or two in mind for each of your flowers just in case--it will save you some panic down the road!

Thank you FiftyFlowers for helping me achieve the look I wanted at a price I could afford. I definitely picked up some new knowledge and skills along the way too that I wouldn't have if I had gone through a florist! I'm looking forward to another excuse to use FiftyFlowers in the future and am confident in recommending them to friends.

Best Day Ever!

My fiance and I are both still in college and knew that, if we wanted to get married, if would need to stick to a pretty tight budget. I knew people that had used fake flowers to keep costs down but I really, REALLY wanted to at least have my bouquet be made from real flowers. My mom always dried out her flowers from special occasions and passed the tradition down to me. The more research I did, the more I realized that finding a wholesale florist and doing the flowers myself would be even more economical than using fake ones! I found FiftyFlowers on Pinterest and the reviews sold me. Even better, they had a DIY bundle that were the exact colors and flowers that I wanted - and it was on sale! After ordering the flowers, I found out someone I worked with had been a florist for twenty years and she offered to do all of the arranging for me. They were absolutely incredible. The flowers brought together my colors and made everything seem so romantic. I actually ended up having enough flowers to add some carnations to the reserved tables at our reception with the rest of the centerpieces, a throw bouquet, an arrangement for the sanctuary, and flower petals for the ceremony as well. I am so happy that I had these!

Beautiful flowers. However, some had to be substituted so the advertised picture is not accurate for my centerpieces.
