Caring for Your Eucalyptus

Greenery is shipped fresh directly from our farms to your doorstep. When you first open the box, your greens might appear "sleepy" or "thirsty," which is completely normal. These have just completed an international journey and need water. Following the important care and preparation steps below will help rehydrate them and ensure they last as long as possible.

Greenery Care Steps – From Arrival to Use

Step 1: Unpack and Inspect

  • Unpack Promptly: Cut any straps to remove greenery from the box. As you unpack, check your blooms for any visible concerns.

  • Process Immediately: Begin the steps below immediately upon opening the box to ensure your flowers rehydrate and recover from their journey. Again, don’t worry if they appear sleepy or thirsty—they will perk up beautifully with proper care.

Step 2: Prepare the Containers

  • Choose Clean Buckets or Vases: Ensure your containers are clean and sanitized to remove soap residue, bacteria, and dirt, which can shorten flower life.

  • Fill Containers: Add at least 4 inches of cool, fresh water, and mix in flower food if available.

Step 3: Trim and Place in Water

  • Remove Packaging: Take off any rubber bands or plastic sleeves protecting the greens.

  • Remove Foliage Below the Waterline: Strip leaves that will fall below the waterline to prevent mold or bacteria growth.

  • Trim the Stems: Use clean, sharp floral shears to cut stems diagonally about 1 inch from the bottom. Avoid household scissors, as they pinch the stems and block water absorption.

  • Place Immediately: Place the freshly cut stems into the prepared water immediately, ensuring enough space in each container to allow the greenery to hydrate properly.

Step 4: Hydrate and Maintain

  • Hydration Time: Allow your greenery to hydrate for a minimum of 4 hours, although 8 hours is ideal.

  • Storage: Store your hydrated greenery in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat. Avoid placing in a refrigerator.

  • Monitor Water Levels: Greenery drinks heavily upon arrival, so check frequently to ensure all stems are always submerged. If the water drops below the stems, refill immediately and recut them before placing them back in the container.

Step 5: Time to Design

  • Ready to Arrange: After completing the hydration and processing steps above, your greenery is ready for design.

  • Recut and Maintain: As you design, make sure to recut the stems and maintain water levels.

  • Refresh Regularly: Change water daily and recut stems every 24-48 hours to keep greenery fresh.

Very bulky and large seeds. Not what I was expecting. But still could be a pretty filler.

Hyland Rustic Wedding Dream

Thanks to Fifty Flowers, I had the wedding of my dreams! I knew I wanted to have beautiful flowers, but wasn't sure if I could afford a florist. Somehow I stumbled upon Fifty Flowers through a blog, and I researched for months, reading all the flower stories I could. I've never done any sort of floral arrangement before, so I was super nervous if I'd be able to pull it off the day before my wedding. But reading through all the stories gave me confidence that I could do it too, and my flowers came out more beautiful than I could imagine. It was definitely hectic and required many hands, but I was able to bond with my bridesmaids and my husband during the process. We were each able to make our own bouquets, and we made very simple centerpieces in Boston rounds and bud vases. It was so meaningful, getting to put our own bouquets together, and I was so proud to look around at all the beautiful flowers, knowing that we had arranged them ourselves! I only watched a couple videos here and there and found that making a beautiful bouquet is not super difficult if you have beautiful flowers. The delicate combo of flowers came a bit late because of weather delays, but they still ended up looking wonderful. After drinking some water, all my flowers really perked up and were truly in mint condition which is crazy considering many of them were shipped from Ecuador. Fifty Flowers gave me all the flowers I wanted, at a super affordable price, and helped me make memories I will not forget! The ordering process was super easy, and Violet, flower expert extraordinaire, helped me determine the quantity of flowers I needed, and determine the final flowers to order. I was given emails and tracking numbers for each batch of flowers I ordered, which was nice on my already stressed heart. The whole process from beginning to end was wonderful, and I would most highly recommend Fifty Flowers to anyone and everyone!
