Caring for Your Muscari Hyacinth
Muscari hyacinth is shipped directly from our farms. Before shipping, we prepare them for their journey with proper hydration methods. If your flowers appear "sleepy" or "thirsty" after their journey, this is completely normal. Follow the steps below to help your blooms hydrate and open beautifully.
Flower Care Steps – From Arrival to Arrangement
Step 1: Unpack and Inspect
Unpack Carefully: Cut any straps to remove the flowers from the box, but do not remove the rubber bands holding the stems together in bunches.
Avoid Sun and Heat: Keep the flowers away from direct sunlight, drafts, or excessive heat.
Short-Term Storage: We highly recommend storing Muscari in a refrigerator (free of fruits and vegetables) in their original bunch packaging and processing them the day of your event.
Step 2: Prepare the Containers
Use Short Containers: Fill a clean container with at least 3 inches of cool, fresh water.
Since Muscari have short stems, use a container that is short enough for the flowers to peek out but tall enough to support them.
Add Floral Food: If available, mix in floral food to nourish the blooms and prevent bacteria growth.
Step 3: Trim and Place in Water
Cut Stems Correctly: Use sharp floral shears or scissors to cut each stem diagonally under cool running water, trimming about 1 inch from the base.
Place Immediately: After cutting, place the stems directly into the prepared container of water.
Step 4: Hydrate and Maintain
Hydration Time: Allow at least 4 hours for flowers to hydrate, ideally in a refrigerator free of fruits and vegetables.
Monitor Water Levels: Muscari are heavy drinkers upon arrival—check water levels frequently to ensure stems stay submerged.
Refresh Water: Change the water every 24 to 48 hours or whenever it becomes cloudy.
Step 5: Time to Design
Ready to Arrange: Once hydrated, your Muscari are ready for use in arrangements. Keep them cool and hydrated until your event.
