Wedding in the Deep Woods

Like all bride's I wanted a beautiful wedding and reception with all my close friends and family there to celebrate with us. We knew we wanted a woodsy outdoor space with an indoor reception for a hot August wedding. Once we found the beautiful venue in Elmira, Oregon, 105 miles away from our home, the real planning began. Our vision was a lot of greenery, white flowers, grey, dark stained wood and copper accents. We wanted it to be eco-friendly as well as cost conscious, so we planned the centerpieces around miscellaneous vases and candlesticks we found. As well as making our own dark stained wood trivets for the centerpieces and spray painting the candlesticks an aged copper. We purchased biodegradable palm leaf plates and biodegradable to go cups(for those making the long trek home) for the dessert table and coffee service. My fiancés mother made the copper tie clips and grey ties to match the guy's shoes. Turned out so good!

We are very fortunate to have a talented and gifted sister who is a graphic designer, “Hey Halle”. She created our Save the Dates, Invites and made the signage for our Wedding. All of that was in good hands, so no worries there!

The flowers came next. We knew we needed to do them ourselves, but were very nervous about the pressure that would entail with all the other DYI details and it being a “destination” wedding. Going to the flower market the week of the wedding was not going to be an option, too much stress on top of making the flowers. We found Fifty Flowers and delivery sounded like the most logical answer. We began browsing the website, the selections were amazing. We ordered Seeded Eucalyptus, Silver Dollar Eucalyptus and Ruscus for the greenery. I knew I wanted Garden Roses and Anemone. When we looked for smaller flowers we found Tweedia that were beautiful with just the right amount of greenery and small delicate flowers. We added white spray roses and on a whim, we decided to add the Antique Orange Petite Roses to tie in with our copper accents. When the flowers and greenery arrived we were so delighted with the quality and quantity! We trimmed and placed them in water and put them in a well air conditioned room. A close family friend came over to help us design the bouquets and boutonnieres. I wanted a large bouquet of mostly greens and white garden roses and anemones. Well, she did it! It was the most beautiful bouquet I had ever seen. She showed us how to put together the boutonnieres and we finished up that night. We transported them the day before the wedding and the venue allowed us to put them in their cooler. The bouquets, bouts, flower crown, centerpieces and greenery stayed beautiful throughout the 90 degree wedding and reception; no drooping or having to replace flowers. We were pleasantly surprised with the Anemones and Garden Roses especially . We expected to have to replace them in the bouquets on the day of, but not one was wilted! We were even able to use the bouquets as centerpieces on the head table and give them away at the end of the night to the staff! We decorated the arbor with eucalyptus on copper lanterns and a spray of greenery and flowers. The rows of chairs had greenery attached with sheer copper ribbon. There were flowers and greenery everywhere, including on the top of our little flower girl's head, we definitely ordered enough!

It was a scary choice to decide to do the flowers ourselves but it was well worth it. They added so much to the overall theme of our wedding. We cannot say enough about Fifty Flowers and the delivery and quality of all of the flowers and greenery we ordered. We are so excited to share the pictures of our wedding flowers.
