Vintage Wildflowers Wedding --Beyond Romantic!

Our wedding was an intimate affair at a location close to our family's hearts. We have been vacationing in Galena, IL nearly every year since we were children, and my father since he was a child. If you have not yet visited this gem, the historic district downtown Galena feels like you have stepped back in time, with shop after shop winding along the picturesque curve of main street's old brick store fronts. We wanted our wedding to reflect this history, not necessarily by being period-specific, but with a vintage, soft, romantic feel as if the flowers were picked right out of a neighboring field. Our wedding colors were a true coral in the bright red-orange hue and a soft mint green in the more yellow family. We choose Lisianthus for the soft fluttery white petals, Snapdragons in the Orange Sorbet color to bring in a pop of color, David Austin Rose Peach Juliet for the vintage rose-garden appeal, and New Love Baby's Breath to echo the vintage feel, but also to strengthen the wildflower look. Though vintage mason jars are used more commonly in weddings currently, this look emanated the overall historic perspective of the restaurant so perfectly, especially when filled with our "wildflowers." Exposed brick walls and dark natural wood tables and chairs set off the playful design. I could not be more happy about how easy it was to care for the flowers upon receipt, and for my aunt's magical touch with arranging them to match my vision for our big day. When we walked into the room, my groom and I both were overwhelmed with the beauty of these flowers and how wonderfully they filled up the space. I would recommend using FiftyFlowers.com to anyone who is willing and able to put in just a little bit of elbow grease in advance, and who have a team of supporters for the wedding day who can reasonably help put your vision together. My aunt had a team of about 8 other family members who followed my sketches and her direction, and for our reception of 80 people, they were able to put it all together in less than a couple of hours. Also, because we purposefully chose to have a smaller destination wedding and we did the flowers ourselves, we were able to afford considerably higher caliber flower arrangements within our budget compared to a couple of florists from whom we had received quotes at much higher rates. Thank you to FiftyFlowers.com for helping to make our day magical!
