Perfect Flowers for a Rustic Barn Wedding!

We got engaged while turkey hunting in April 2013. I had already spent hours looking at pinterest and planning my wedding, but I had no idea how perfect and awesome it would be. My entire wedding was DIY! My mom and grandma spent the year "junking" and picking up vintage china, stemware, silverware and beer glasses. We bargain shopped for all the fabric and did all the place settings and napkins ourselves. The furniture and decor was fun to see come together. The week prior to the wedding both families came to our little town and helped clean and "make over" the 100 year old barn. No one would have guessed on Monday that by Saturday it would have turned into the wedding of my dreams.
Deciding to do flowers on our own was scary and my mom was apprehensive. However, after spending lots of time getting guidance from the website I was convinced to give it a try. We did a 'trial run' for my bridal shower and decided we could handle the whole process. Deciding on flowers was solely at the graces of the FiftyFlowers consultants. I sent ideas of what I wanted as far as feel, color & texture & Maya Violet helped create the perfect recipes.
I had a huge (10-20) group of soldiers to help: family members and friends. We were lucky enough to be able to use a local flower shop that has gone out of business and the expertise of a florist to help with the bouquets and boutonnieres, but other than that there was NO floral experience from anyone!
My biggest advice is to go for it!!! As long as you have enough help and space, it was so fun!!! We had a blast and it was great bonding time prior to the wedding.
There was not a thing I would change, lace from the rafters, the chandelier my new husband restored, the fresh baked pies, local caramel apples, the beautiful flowers, the new boots for the day, the vintage carriage to come in on, the team of horses to haul guests to the meadow, the vintage decor, or the wonderful family and friends that shared our day, it was INCREDIBLE!!!
