Intimate, Dramatic, Romantic: A Portland Wedding

From the start, my fiancé and I wanted an intimate wedding full of nature. What was originally going to be an elopement on the cliffs of Scotland, rapidly became a full family affair. With those changes, we set a close Fall date with only a few months to plan and quickly learned that the dramatic florals we had started to dream of might be just out of reach. My mother and I sat down to work through this and found FiftyFlowers. Through some day-of DIY and collaborative creativity, we could have the striking bouquet and almost foraged arrangements I wanted.

We began with a muted color palette of white, gold, and dusty greens. The FiftyFlowers website was easy to use and really encouraged us to find those special pieces that could enhance our overall arrangements and make our flowers feel unique. Delivery was simple and the team at FiftyFlowers made sure that each piece would be at their peak bloom for the wedding. While this meant that my beloved mustard garden roses couldn't be delivered after their season ended early, they were quickly replaced with lovely apricot roses that suited the mood just as well.

The focal point was always meant to be my bouquet so we worked outward from there, carefully arranging a dramatic and romantic mess of roses, anemones, willow eucalyptus, feverfew, dusty miller, and solidago that draped out of my arms and down my dress. From there, small bridesmaid arrangements for mine and my fiancé's sisters and a simple cake topper of willow eucalyptus, anemone, and feverfew. Boutineers of anemone, eucalyptus, and solidago enhanced simple grey suits while apricot roses stunned on corsages for the mother-of-the-groom and all of the grandmas. A favorite was the mother-of-the-bride's delicate flower crown made from a strand of foraged ivy, anemone, and sprigs of solidago wrapped in delicate gold wire. Remaining flowers were grouped in small table arrangements in simple cylinder glass vases, large altarpieces in decorative grey urns, and other small arrangements throughout the venue.

I feel like I cannot praise my FiftyFlowers experience enough! The flowers themselves were perfect, all of the staff worked incredibly hard to make sure that everything arrived in perfect condition, and the DIY arranging process was lovely. My mother and I got to spend the day before my wedding together, playing with flowers, and I couldn't be more proud of what we made. Thank you for making this process so easy, beautiful, and accessible!
