An All American Love Story

My whole life I've loved all things DIY, I knew when Taylor proposed I wanted to incorporate three things into our wedding: Personal handcrafted touches, his patriotism, and our last name Ford. Our Americana-themed wedding was held in Florence, AZ at the Windmill Winery with the most stunning barn as our reception venue and the backdrop for our ceremony. Our colors navy, coral, and champagne were a play off of red white and blue, and the rustic red barn gave us that Americana feel we were going for! During our 13 month engagement I taught myself to make paper flowers out of tissue & crepe paper. With the help of family and friends I crafted over 1,100 handmade paper flowers which made up our centerpieces, and were sprinkled into our bouquets. When dreaming up my bridal bouquet and bouquets for my bridesmaids, I knew I wanted to incorporate a mix of both fresh and paper flowers. I chose to use peach and coral paper peonies and roses mixed with fresh white roses, carnations, dusty miller, and silver dollar eucalyptus. The perfect spring combo with a romantic feel. The morning of our wedding my army of bridesmaids (I say army because I had 12 amazing women I couldn't imagine this day without!) sat in our robes and assembled 12 bridesmaids bouquets, 14 boutonnieres, 1 stunning bridal bouquet, and a 20 foot eucalyptus garland sprinkled with crepe paper peonies. While we were rotating getting our hair and makeup done, this made for the perfect pass time and really allowed my bridesmaids (10 of whom live out of state) feel like they had a part in helping with the big day. When hunting for a ceremony arch I couldn't find anything that spoke to me, so I asked my husband and his friend to buy some railroad ties and make my vision come to life! My besties worked hard to assemble the breathtaking eucalyptus garland that made for the perfect setting for our ceremony backdrop! Guests at our wedding were blown away by how beautiful our flowers were and couldn't believe that we had created the bouquets ourselves the morning of our wedding! It was an absolute blast and having something to keep me busy helped calm my wedding jitters and was a wonderful way to bond with my girls! We had an overwhelming amount of people tell us how personalized our wedding was which made my heart sing knowing that all of the thought and love put into this day did not go unnoticed!
